Purpose

As I mentioned on the home page, we recognized the need to pass cycling on to our kids (or at least some good old fashioned exercise!) and created the Tour de Family.

Besides being driven to help families get out and ride together, we also want to draw awareness to a unique condition. Our youngest daughter was born with a condition that is not noticeable on the outside, but for lack of a better way to say it—she has no control of her bowels. We were quickly thrown into a world we knew nothing about, and she has undergone four surgeries and is doing great!

During our journeys we met many people with similar conditions and became so thankful for what was going on to help them that we wanted to find a way to give back. So when you pay your entrance fee your money will go to the needs of the event, help pay some medical bills, and then the rest will be donated to Ronald McDonald homes and to the Cincinnati Childrens Hospital (which is the only center in the world that deals with patients like our daughter). You can click here to learn more about these types of conditions.

Ride Information

The ride will consist of a five mile loop (you can do it once, twice, or three times) around Washington Fields. The rest stops are designed to motivate the youngsters to keep going. Those who wish to ride the 30 or 50 will break away from the pack after the first three miles and enjoy a beautiful, peaceful ride with fully-stocked rest stops!

You can do this ride however best fits your family. For example, maybe you decide to ride five miles with the whole family and then dad waits with the younger kids while mom does another five with the older ones. Or maybe you decide to ride five with the whole family and then ride the 30 with your oldest kids. The point is: ride whatever works for your family!

The Start/Finish line will be home to lots of activities for the kids. Those of you who have been to the Staheli Farm know of the endless fun there and those of you who have not will get a taste!

Directions to Starting Line

Coming from North or South on I-15 take exit number 10 and turn left on Telegraph (drive past Walmart). Turn right on 300 East (turns into Washington Fields Rd) and drive 3.5 miles to Staheli Farm (3400 S. Washington Fields Dr. Washington, UT 84780).

Course Directions

Please remember:
    • All traffic regulations and laws must be observed.
    • Helmets are required at all times.
    • All riders must ride to the right side of the road with no more than two side-by-side.
    • Please be courteous to other vehicles and assist them in passing you.

You can choose to do the following options any way you like it. For example you can ride 5 miles with your family, watch the kids while your wife does another five, and then do the 30 with a friend. You choose whatever works best for you or your family! (Rest stops will close at 3pm).

5, 10, 15 mile loops
Start and finish at Staheli Farm. Families can ride it all together or you can do it relay style.
